Connecting Seniors with the Benefits They Need
Connections Area Agency on Aging is announcing that they have become a part of Iowa’s Benefits Enrollment Centers. Along with several other Area Agencies on Aging, Connections AAA will be better equipped to work with clients, screening their eligibility and assisting with applications for public and private assistance programs.
“We have always assisted seniors and their caregivers with finding benefits and services that they need,” said Sherrie McDonald, Director of Consumer Services. She continued “During these more difficult times brought on by Covid-19 and the economy, we are making a more concerted effort to look at the many needs of the client and connect them to as many of the resources possible to extend their fixed incomes.” Our knowledgeable staff will screen individuals for core benefits, including Extra Help (prescription drug assistance), Medicare Savings Programs (for assistance with Medicare Part B premiums, Medicare deductibles and copays), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs/SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), Medicaid’s numerous programs, and Low-Income Heating and Energy Assistance Programs (LIHEAP). They will also look at the client’s needs and make applications for other programs such as SSI, Social Security Disability Insurance, veteran’s benefits, tax benefits, dental assistance, and many more. McDonald added “As a Benefits Enrollment Center, we serve seniors, caregivers, veterans, and persons with disabilities and will make referrals for others to the appropriate agency/service for their needs.” Connections’ offices are currently closed to the public, due to Covid-19, interested individuals can contact us by call 800.432.9209 or contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
