Hello Friends,

Just a friendly reminder that Medicare open enrollment is almost here. October 15th-December 7th is the time for Medicare beneficiaries to review their drugs plans, and make sure that they have the right plan for them. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance reviewing their Medicare options, they can call us at 800-432-9209 for more information.

Also happening in October is the Siouxland Big Give. Connections AAA is taking part in the 2021 Siouxland Big Give a 24-hour day of giving where Siouxland community members are encouraged to donate to their favorite local charities. You don’t have to be from the Sioux City area to take part, and the proceeds from the events helps us to support Older Iowans and their family caregivers throughout our 20 county service area.

Connections Area Agency on Aging is pleased to offer The Stress-Busting Program for Family Caregivers. The Stress-Busting Program is designed to improve the quality of life of family caregivers and help caregivers manage their stress and cope better with their lives.

The program consists of nine weekly 90-minute sessions. The program is conducted in a small group setting with two trained group facilitators. Participants are provided with many resources including a handbook covering class material.

To mark Dementia Awareness Day, Jan Schnack Family Caregiver Community Engagement Specialist at Connections Area Agency on Aging will host a one-hour Dementia Friends virtual Lunch and Learn session.
