Volunteers and Connections Area Agency on Aging Recieve Governor's Volunteer Awards

Local Citizens and Connections Area Agency on Aging receive Governor’s Award
Several volunteers for Connections Area Agency on Aging (AAA) received a 2015 Governor’s Volunteer Award from Governor Terry E. Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds during a special recognition ceremony held June 19 in Storm Lake. These volunteer were nominated by Connections AAA and honored for individual outstanding service or length of service.

In addition, Connections Area Agency on Aging received a group award for 5 years of service as a SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) sponsor site. Two individuals, Harvey Rabe and Chris Kuchta were also honored for their five years of service as SHIIP counselors. These nominations originated from the Iowa Insurance Division’s SHIIP office.
“Iowa is recognized as a national leader in volunteerism and service because of the steadfast devotion of our volunteers,” stated Governor Terry E. Brandstad. “I am pleased to have an opportunity to personally thank this year’s Governor’s Volunteer Award recipients for contributing their priceless time and talent in ways that make an enormous difference in our state.”
“The people selected for these awards have gone well above and beyond what is expected in their quest to help others,” said Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds. “Their hard work and dedication have encouraged other citizens to become more engaged, which makes stronger communities.”
The Governor’s Volunteer Awards (GVA) program was created in 1982, with inaugural awards presented in 1983. What began as a small program for state government agencies, has expanded over the years and now provides all Iowa nonprofit, charitable, and governmental organizations with an easy way to honor their volunteers with a prestigious state-level award. Hundreds of volunteers are recognized each year with awards in in one of four categories: Individual, Group, Length of Service, or Disaster Volunteer.
Recipients of the Governor’s Volunteer Award do not necessarily need to live in Iowa, but their service must have benefited Iowans or an Iowan organization. Award Criteria include an individual or group who has:
• Demonstrated exceptional commitment to volunteerism by helping with a special project or ongoing activities.
• Demonstrated exemplary leadership, creativity, cooperation, and hard work in their service to others.
• Made an outstanding contribution to state or community through volunteer service.

Evaluation of Information Protection Practices -- Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with organization policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality and quality of our information. Employee Access, Training and Expectations -- Our organization values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.
  10. How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us using the contact form provided to you within the site structure of our website.
  11. Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, website traffic patterns and related website information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include personally identifying data, except as otherwise provided in this privacy policy.
  12. What About Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information? We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, in other words, when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights.
