Connections Area Agency on Aging works every day to Build Strong Support for Older Iowans and their Family Caregivers. November is National Caregiver Month. In appreciation of caregivers, we are having an In-Person Caregiver Conference November 4, 2025, 10a-3p at MidAmerica Center Council Bluffs.
Join us for this free conference—lunch is on us! Whether you’re a current caregiver, may become one in the future, or work alongside those who provide care, this event is for you.
According to AARP, 1 in 4 people are caregivers. Family caregivers are a cornerstone of Iowa’s health care system. Their roles may include providing care at home, arranging home health services, or supporting individuals living in long-term care settings. To sustain their efforts, caregivers need access to financial resources, emotional support, and social connections. The care they give not only improves the lives of those they assist but also contributes to the well-being of the broader community. The role of a family caregiver can be both very rewarding and challenging.
Our Keynote Speaker is nationally known Elizabeth Miller with Happy Health Caregiver speaking about Juggling Work, Home and Caregiving as well as the Importance of Self Care. We also have local experts Jessica Ducan with The Alzheimer's Association speaking on Anticipatory Grief and Gere Stevens with ISU Extension and Outreach speaking on Good Nutrition on a Budget.
At Connections AAA we have a dedicated program to focus on the needs of our Caregivers and to help create a supportive community. We are able to offer this through our Case Management Program, Information and Assistance, In-Person Support Groups and Facebook Support Pages for both Caregivers and Grandparents Raising their grandchildren.
If you are a caregiver or have a question about our programs or the upcoming conference, please reach out to Tasha Jones at tjones@connectionsaaa.org or 800-432-9209 to visit more.
