AARP Tax Aid

Information about AARP’s Tax Aid Program!

•AARP is operating a tax aid program from January 24th to April 17th.
•Assistance will be available Mondays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM at Broadway United Methodist Church (First Street and Broadway).
•Those seeking assistance are asked to use the east entrance and take the elevator to the second floor.
•The program provides free assistance to low- and middle-income taxpayers on their tax returns with individuals 60 and older receiving priority.
•The service is on a walk-in basis only. No appointments are taken. It is first come, first served.
•Taxpayers are asked to provide a copy of the return from last year.
•If the taxpayer is a homeowner, they will need to know the amount of property tax paid in 2010.
•Clients have the option of filing their returns electronically or mailing them in. If using the e-filing they are encouraged to bring a savings or bank account number.
•If the taxpayer plans on using Schedule A and itemizing their deductions, they are being asked to wait until late February to ask for assistance. Because of late actions by Congress, the IRS computers will not be able to accept returns with Schedule A until then.
