Meals and Nutrition Information

No matter your age, good nutrition is essential for good health.

Do you (or your loved one):

  • struggle to prepare a meal?
  • find that you skip meals?
  • hate eating alone?
  • enjoy having fun and being around others?

We have meal options for you!

All of our meals are delicious and nutritious, meeting 1/3 of the dietary guidelines for older adults. Each month's menus are approved by the state dietician.

Punch cards are available for purchase and can be used at any of our Senior Centers! They make excellent gifts!

Senior Center Meals (also known as Congregate Meals) provide a hot noon meal and time to gather with friends for social activities, conversation, and fun. Senior Centers meals are available for any senior (ages 60+) and their spouse. A suggested contribution is posted at each senior center to help cover a portion or full cost of the meal. Guests under age 60 may also enjoy a meal with a senior at the full price. Reservations must be made for these meals before noon of the business day prior (time varies by location, so check with your local senior center or give us a call.)

A punch card for meals at Senior Centers is available for purchase (and makes a great gift). Punch cards may be used at any Senior Center that is part of the Connections Senior Center Meals program.

Home Delivered Meals (also known as Meals on Wheels) are hot noon meals delivered on the days when the local senior center is open. They are available to individuals (ages 60+) who meet the eligibility requirements (and their caregivers) and reside where these meals are offered. Contact us for eligibility requirements.

Those receiving meals will be sent a monthly statement with a suggested contribution amount to offset the cost of the meals.

Volunteer drivers deliver these meals, offering a short conversation and informal wellness check for individuals receiving the meals. This short visit is often the highlight of an isolated and lonely senior's day, as well as fosters independent living, a sense of security, and helps to prevent premature or unnecessary admittance into a care facility.

Frozen Meals is a customized meal program that allows individuals to choose from a menu of choices. This program is for individuals who may need a meal but live in a location without a senior center and/or needs additional evening and week-end meals. Frozen meals are also offered to congregate and home delivered meal participants during the holidays and winter months to have on hand for when the center is closed.

Shelf-Stable Meals is a customized meal program that allows individuals to choose from a menu of choices. These meals do not require refrigeration. The criteria for this program are the same as for the frozen meals.

Both frozen meals and shelf-stable meals can also be delivered to rural, eligible home-bound seniors using our temperature controlled trucks. Breakfast options are also available on the menu. Our courteous drivers bring five meals (or multiples of five) per delivery.

Meals are on a donation basis for those ages 60+ who meet eligibility requirements. Others who do not meet the criteria and would like meals in our rural delivery areas may request meals at full cost. Contact our Healthy Living staff at 800.432.9209 for more details.
